Do You Care What Will Be Said About You?

I once attended a funeral and nothing good was said about the deceased.

I knew him to be a showy type person, constantly wanting to make sure that you are not doing more or have more than he. In fact the attendees were ask What Will We Say About You, when your time comes ?

Update:

Thanks JD! you seems to see the situation as we all should ! Only how we lived will be talked about when we're gone.

Hopefully the shallow people who want to talk trash about me (especially at my funeral) will no longer be my friends to even want to attend...

No I suppose I wouldn't since I'll be dead and won't know what anyone has to say. Though I do prefer to make the people I love as happy as I can so that they will have fond and loving memories of me when I'm gone. Basically I won't really care what people say so long as the ones I love know that they were loved and will continue to love me even after I'm gone. When I die I don't want my children or husband to focus on any bad memories of me or our lives; I want their memories filled of only the good times we had and the good I did for them and most importantly all the good they've done for me. I want my family and friends, especially my children, to be better people because I was in their lives and I will spend my life making sure they know I'm a better person because of them.

I'd like to be remembered for my compassion towards others...

It's so sad when you go to a funeral and no one has anything good to say about the deceased. It should be a time to look at what positive impacts they had (however little they may be).

martin luther king, albert Einstein, newton, charles darwin, abraham lincoln, michael jackson, maya angelou, washington irvin, mark twain, edgar allen poe, Aurthur miller, ernest hemingway, robert frost, steven crane, walt whitman and so many others. these men changed America. hm-mm why do i say that. because they did great things. ok, lets look at Saddam Husein. he was hanged. what is said about him? crap. personally, i wanna be remembered and people smiling by just a thought of the great things i did. consider Michael jackson, the most famous man on earth. three thousand poets wrote poems about him when he died. more than 900 million fans of his including me mourned him. i want to go out like that. i want good things to be said about me. i want my grand children to grow up knowing that their father, or grand father was a good man. not only will influence people to do good, i will always rest in perfect peace.

I would not be bothered. I am already dead.

I don't even bother what people said now that I'm still alive. It's my life I'm living. As long as I enjoy my life and I don't harm people, why should I care what other said of me. We can't possibly please everyone...

From what I know, it's not good to bad-mouth the deceased as it will bring retribution...
