    Yes . . . and no.

    It depends on WHAT and WHERE the infection is.

    For example, if it is just simply an adware or rogue software, that just stay somewhere in your current profile's folders, then YES, you will be fine by just switching profiles.

    However, if it is truly a virus or worm, or worse, a trojan, that has spread its roots deeper into your system (such as registry entries and program files), then NO, switching profiles won't help.

    ---------------------------------------------

    You didn't give much info so I have no idea what kind of infection you have. But if switching profile works for you, go for it. If you are unsure, send me an email with the description of what you meant by "my internet connection just went HAYWIRE!" (quoted you, lol).

    By the way, I am pretty sure that it's not a virus, because viruses oftentimes work silently in the background and replicate themselves. I think you have some sort of adware, spyware, or rogue software--but not a virus.

    Alternatively, you can also run a few antispyware and antivirus scans and make sure your computer is clean.

    If you don't have one already installed, here are a few options

    (there are many out there, but I will just lists the ones that I've used and liked):

    ------

    Antivirus program(free):

    (most antivirus programs also include antispyware)

    Avast (My personal favorite):

    Avira:

    Comodo Antivirus:

    -----

    Antispyware programs (free):

    Malwarebytes:
