Antacids (like bicarbonate) neutralize the excess acid that the stomach produces. Indigestion is usually the result of eating too fast and not chewing food sufficiently.

I can totally relate to you. I get HORRIBLE heartburn all the time. I even tried avoiding certain foods (spicy, greasy, etc...) and nothing helps. I'm 24 weeks and I swear I get heartburn even after drinking plain water. I know its just attributed to the fact that as our uterus grows our organs are getting pushed up, and the additional pressure on the stomach can cause reflux and indigestion. My doctor recommened tums...which helped for a while in the beginning, but don't help at all now. I called and check with her about trying Pepcid complete...its supposed to be much better than Tums, as you can only take 2 a day. I have gotten more relief from those than I ever did with tums...I still have it a little bit, but at this point any relief is better than. I've also noticed that drinking milk can help a lot as it coats your throat and esophagus. Again its only temporary relief, but its better than nothing at all. Once you have the baby, things will get better...but sad to say you are stuck with the heartburn and indigestion for the long haul. I totally sympathize. Good luck

Eat smaller meals and supplement them with snacks throughout the day, instead of the traditional three main meals.

    Step 2

Trade in greasy foods for healthy fare such as veggies instead of chips or French fries and turkey burger patties instead of beef. You can also change up your cooking strategies to reduce fat, for example, by char-broiling burgers so the fat drips off or baking French fries instead of deep frying them.

    Step 3

Keep a food journal or take note of your habits in some other way. If acidic foods hurt you, stay away from citrus fruits; if carbonated sodas cause you problems, switch to water or lemonade.

    Step 4

Eat slowly. Rushing through meals increases the amount of air you swallow and causes your body to work faster than it wants to. Take some time to enjoy your food and relax after your meal before getting up to run around.
