How many of you out there could really distinguished between Karatedo & Tae-Kwon-Do?
Of course I'm talking about a Martial Art..... and oops! a competition sports!
There are just too many idiots out there who can't even differentiate from their uniforms??
I would forgive anyone who couldn't tell the difference after test driving a Honda & a Hyundai. But some idiots even got a shocked when they came to know that Karatedo & Taekwondo is totally not related at all!!!
Now is the time I need to see some general feedback from Singaporeans' knowledge on this part. True or false doesn't matter, just type on it. I need to see how many misconception are there altogether...
Thx! I need this survey very much...

To be honest, as a student of both, there are some very significant differences in their practicalities. Taekwondo is kick-based, concerned only with evasion and landing clean and fast kicks. Karate uses the fists, blocking and striking. They both have the same moves (with minor differences, like cat-stance for karate, or spinning kick for Taekwondo) and are almost identical in style. The difference is how those techniques are used.
When I saw Ip Man, there was a karateka fighting a wing chun master, and I genuinely thought the karateka was a taekwondo artist. In choreography, the moves that are used are more-or-less indistinguishable, because even Taekwondo uses sweeps and grapples if you trace it back to its origins.

Karatedo has its origin in Japan whereas Tae-kwon-do is Korean. Both are similar in that it is meant for self-defence, but the techniques from each school is different. There are variations in the strokes and posturing. Not easy to tell the difference unless you look at each martial art on its own and then compare subsequently.
