Anyone has tried replace netbook webcam?

I got an Asus 701 4g. My current 0.3mp webcam seems not working, something wrong with it. I wanted to replace with those typical 1.3mp USB webcam. Can it be done?

Asus 701 current webcam wire connect to the small usb on the motherboard, whats the name of the wire? Because i might need to replace the wire.

Could mod into USB Female to usb port (motherboard) and just attach my USB webcam?

    Thats a lot of effort for a webcam, why dont you just plug in a USB webcam normally?

    But if you have a lot of time on your hands I guess it would work if you just remove the screen bezel, cut the wires at the webcam then attach them to your new webcam..

    It may or may not work.

    Yeah I would Image the usb device would work..just get the correct drivers and disable the built in webcam.
