How to thank a boss for training opportunity?
I was wondering what I should say to my boss for allowing me to attend a training session. I want to say something along the lines of "thank you for investing in my success" but I also want to tie in how my knowledge gained can benefit the company too. I can't think of how to word this. Help? Thanks!
I researched this topic and found that writing a business thank you note to my boss would be the best choice. See, I am working as a temp right now, and have been for a year, so it is a big deal that they invested in me enough to send me to a training seminar. I just can't think of how to word this.

Thanking him for "thinking of you for this opportunity" and also thanking him for "having the confidence in you to send you for additional training". Tell him that you appreciate his thought.

Although it may seem that letting the company know that a fellow employee is actively seeking other employment and plans to leave may be a good thing to do, it never is. It makes you appear as the office gossip. Additionally, if the company is starting a project with new software that will require training, it seems that more than one person should be trained on the software. Perhaps a better option, since you will be present during the training period (and your boss has already indicated that she would like for you to stay on past the current contract period), is to indicate to your boss that you would like to remain as active in the company as possible in order to prove your worth to the company, and that you would like to assist on this new project. That might give you an opportunity to get the training without "throwing your co-worker under the bus," so to speak.

Simply tell him you appreciate his selecting you to participate in this additional training. Nothing more is necessary.
