Has anyone used the Kittywalk Cozy Climber and had problems getting it to work on your door?

Question

It's an over-the-door climber for cats. I was given this one:

The door you put it on needs to be closed, but in my house the only side it fits on faces enclosed areas, such as the bedroom or the walk-in closet. I need to mount it on the other side of the door, facing open areas, but the top hits the door jamb, so the door cannot close.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you get it to work?

you could lower the door.. unscrew the hinges and screw them in lower. and you might have to pry off the top stop http://www.hometips.com/articleimages/hinged_door_parts_diagram1.gif

plus you should make sure the door is always closed or stopped, so it doesn't swing when the cats use it
