I have a VE day themed party coming up and I'm thinking of wearing chinese dress?

I know I'm looking for dresses around 1940s style. I was wondering however, I'm half chinese so do you think it's a good idea to wear a cheongsam (chinese dress) with seamed tights for the party? would china have played a part in VE day?

A chinese dress might be more appropriate to a VJ Day themed party as the Chinese were more involved in fighting the Japanese. However, maybe you're representing a Chinese American girl in which case you may be able to argue it away.

Sure, why not--except keep in mind that the Chinese would not have celebrated VE Day (1 May, 1945), because they were still at war with Japan, who didn't give up for another 3 and a half months.

There was a substantial Chinese population in Britain during the 1940s, Chinese seamen served on freighters in the Atlantic convoys and worked in the docks, plus a grouping in Soho, so I do not see why they would not be involved in the VE day celebrations.

Everyone around the world played a part in VE Day.

I see no reason why you should not wear the dress but how about making things authentic? Why not fake a black eye and a few other physical injuries just to remind everyone that although hatred of Japanese Americans replaced the prejudice against Chinese Americans during WWII many Americans did not bother to distinguish between any of the peoples of Asian origin.

Apart from fighting the Japanese, the Chinese also provided many crew members of the merchant navy. So go for the swing and please visit me afterwards.

What does that have to do with Victory in Europe?
