What does it mean by...........?
"playing a devil on the painted stage"
I found this phrase in the book "Queen of the damned" but i have no damn clue what it means, anyone mind to tell me and explain me why?

anyone? please? aight, according to the book, he says that he wants to be the symbol of evil, but does good once in a while.
