OK FIRST a blue screen is NOT your enemy. The problem is not windows, the problem is something was wrong with your machine. The blue screen is the diagnostic tool that HELPS you by telling you what is wrong.

The other guy (ajaxmana) is correct, it is a DRIVER issue, NOT windows. Gave him a thumbs up.

The XPS was a SUPERB machine in it's day but it should have shipped with VISTA, not xp. It shouldn't have shipped in home edition. It should have shipped only in media center and pro editions.

The fact that you're running xp home, and not even a current service pack indicates that the OS was replaced. IF you replace an OS, you have to replace the drivers and you have to do it in the correct order. This matches the 0A bluescrcreen theory.

The 720 was an ultra high end gaming system. If you bought the system used, it is possible the original owner kept the original video cards and gave you one or two cheaper models. If he just slapped the new card in and did not install the proper driver for that card, that would be another reason you got a 0A

You need to install desktop system software

    reboot

nvidia smbuss (720 used nvidia chipset, NOT intel)

    reboot

video (remember the 720 was one of the very first machines that could go crossfire or sli this is probably the driver that is causing the trouble)

    reboot

cardreader, audio, nic, wifi. Most people do not need to install modem, optical drive or hd controller

one last reboot at the end

Not enough information. Windows XP 2000 is a bit out of date. Upgrade to windows XP Service pack 3. The code may mean your running a program incompatible your current operating system or that your computer is infected with a virus.

Thats the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message. It comes from a driver trying to send data using the wrong IRQ and it is usually from a bad or incompatible device driver.

Lol... why use such an antiquated OS?

With that said, update your drivers. If you recently did update drivers, then roll them back.
