What is a man"s the dress code when attending a friends wedding?

I want to know if a suit is the proper dress wear or just a sports jacket and dress pants.

Sports jacket and dress pants, plus a collared shirt and tie, are fine. A suit is also okay. If the wedding is outside or pretty casual, he may decide to go without the coat and tie - you can always leave those in the car.

If it's a formal wedding, a suit is appropriate.

If it's informal, a sports jacket and dress pants would be fine.

If the invitation doesn't give any hints on the formality, you can call the bride to ask. She'll be more than willing to let you know.

to be honest ,that depends on where you are planning to go ..if it is a formal occasion ,it is better to choose a suit ,if it is informal ,a sports jacket and dress pants are both all right ...

a Black suit will do fine, though try and be ceative with the tie, going full black will look like you're going to a funeral :P I wouldnt recommend casual wear though, maybe for the after party :P If your in the UK i could suggest Debenhams, I rented out a suit there for my cousins wedding for £40 :)
