How do you write "film" in Korean?

film:

- (verb) to direct, produce, or otherwise engage in the production of motion pictures.

- (noun) the industry or discipline concerned with the production of motion pictures.

My brother is studying cinematography in Korea right now, and I'd like to make him a gift with this word on it in Korean. The trouble is that I have no idea how to say it in Korean, much less how to spell it.

I'd look it up online, but a) I don't speak a word of Korean, so using a Korean-to-English dictionary is iffy at best; and b) I don't trust Google Translate not to give me a word essentially synonymous with "cling wrap" or "silent movie" or something.

Can any Korean speakers please help me out?

Update:

When I say "make him a gift with this word on it", I mean "carve this word into a bone pendant". So yes, I suppose I will be hand-writing it... with a dremel tool, heh.

In depends on what word you want.

    영화 (yuhng-hwa): "movie" (noun)

필름 (peel-luhm): "film" (noun) (it's a loanword from English "film"--there's no F in Korean so it gets changed to P, and an extra vowel got stuck in there because the Korean language wants it that way)

필름 can also refer to the physical film itself, e.g. a roll of film that you put in a camera.

촬영하다 (chwal-yuhng-ha-da): "to shoot," "to film" (verb)

So, choose whichever one you want, copy & paste, and find a nicer font than that one. There are some Korean fonts that are a bit more traditional looking. If you're handwriting it then get familiar with Hangul first (it's not hard), if you handwrite it like the font above it'll probably end up looking unnatural.
