Can I cancel an auto insurance claim once Progressive have been notified of an accident? ?
My car got wrecked today by a 16 year old girl. I called my insurance company right away but they won't cover the damages. I live in Michigan and only have no fault insurance. Basically I'm out 10 grand. After talking to the girls dad he offered to pay to have my car fixed to driving condition if I don't notify the insurance company. His rates would go way way up so he wants to avoid that...obviously. Since I already talked to the insurance company can I just cancel that claim? Or is it too late. I don't see the point in going through with the claim if the only people who are going to get any cash is Progressive.

If the girl's dad isn't willing to repair the vehicle to the condition it was in before the accident, then go through his insurance. It isn't his choice.
