Question about introducing solids?
I have a question for you Mommys.
When did you introduce solids to your babies? Like baby cereal and pureed fruits and veggies.
And how did your baby react to the new foods.
Also was your baby breast fed or bottle fed.
I'm trying to decide when to introduce solids to my son. I know your supposed to wait till 6 months but his ped said anywhere from 3 to 6 months. But I wanna see when other moms started with their little ones started solids. Thank you!

I introduced my daughter to rice cereal around four months. After that it was the infant oatmeal and single grain cereal. I didn't really start introducing the baby foods (like the pureed stuff in jars) until 5 and a half months. She's 10 months now and stopped eating baby food about 2 or 3 months ago. She wants what I'm eating and refuses to eat the baby food. Her pediatrician said that was fine.
Take the cues from your baby. Start with the rice cereal and see how he handles it. If he doesn't seem to be that interested, stop and wait a week or two and try again. Same thing with the other solids. Try. If he gobbles stuff down, experiment with more. If his tummy doesn't seem to handle it or he refuses to eat it, don't push it. Try again a week or so later.
Good luck!
Oh - And she was breast fed until about 4 and a half months. Then she went on strike and refused to breast feed. I tried to pump, but was getting a max of 4 ounces total in a 10 hour period. She's now on formula.

My daughter started solids at about 5 1/2 months. We skipped cereal and went right for fruits and veggies. She was breastfed.
My son will be 6 months this weekend and has had a few tastes of bananas, but isn't officially "on solids" yet. He is also breastfed.
I'm really shocked that your doctor would suggest starting solids as early as 3 months. Early solids are linked to food allergies and obesity (later in life). The AAP suggests that most babies start at 6 months, but never younger then 4 months.

My son was feed breast milk from a bottle. We started cereal at about 4 months with him and fruits and veggies around 6 months. He did really well with all of it. The only problem we had was trying to figure out how much he should still drink once he started solid foods.

My oldest two started solids at around 5 months. The earliest you should be giving solids is 4 months. 3 months is not advised as their bodies are not ready yet.
They had no reactions to any foods we gave them. You should always wait a week in between introducing new foods though- this is so that you will be able to easily pin point what caused any reaction that may occur. And hold off on any foods that you or a family member are allergic to.
Mine were breastfed.
