Can you cook green bean casserole on the stove top?

I always put it in the oven for 30-40 minutes. There is never enough room in the oven, so I was thinking about doing it this way. It just has to be warm, as nothing in it needs to be cooked. Have you made it this way before? If so, was it good?

Update:

crock pot maybe? not enough room in oven :(

Sure you can...the only difference will be your fried onions may not be a crunchy. I always add a little velveeta cheese to the green beans and soup mixture. Using the crock pot might work, but still I think the condensation coming from the lid will add moisture to your fried onions. You could always make the casserole ahead and then just set it out a bit before serving to get it to room temperature and then put in the oven just to get it warmed right before serving.

some pots can go into the oven, if the temp isn't too high. Around 350 degrees should be ok. Test it in the oven for a few minutes, without any food. Just put some water in the bottom of the pan. Test it for a few minutes and see if the handles burn or melt. You're supposed to brown the meat and veggies and make the gravy in a pan, then make the potatoes in separate. You only need to casserole dish to bake it together and melt the cheese on top.. so theoretically, you can just make the meat mixture, and put it over mashed potatoes.
