How long does it take to defrost a 10 lb turkey?

My room mate started today at 1:30 pm. He also cooks frozen chicken in the oven (doesn't bother to defrost it) He says it will be fine for tomorrow. I don't waist my time arguing with stupid people. According to him the only thing that matters is that it is defrosted enough to take out the gizzards. What would you say to this?

    When you cook a frozen bird, the outside will be overcooked by the time the inside reaches a safe temperature.

    Refrigerator Thawing

    When thawing a turkey in the refrigerator:

    Plan ahead: allow approximately 24 hours for each 4 to 5 pounds in a refrigerator set at 40 °F or below.

    Cold Water Thawing

    Allow about 30 minutes per pound.

    I cook frozen chicken all the time. Turns out fine. A 10 lb turkey is small so 24 hours in the fridge should help a little but since the turkey is so small you can let it defrost in cool water in the sink for a bit before cooking it. It should defrost no problem at that size.
