Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

I'll design you a sub box.?

Yes. I'm bored and feeling the 'holiday spirit' again. So for those that are SERIOUS about building your own box, I'll design one for you free of charge with all measurements (SAE) and a 3D model shown. I do have a family and work outside of Yahoo Answers, so I don't have time for transmission lines, walls, bandpass boxes, etc. Please limit requests to sealed or ported (round/slot/square whichever I can fit best/get the desired port area from).

What I need from you:

1) Sub brand / model and quantity of subs

2) The maximum dimensions you have to work with. (Height X Width X Depth) Be smart about this. Don't measure your trunk out only to find that you won't be able to fit it in the trunk opening.

3) What kind of vehicle (trunk car, hatchback car, SUV, truck)

4) Desired tuning if ported (Again be reasonable. I usually tune anywhere between 28-38Hz or higher depending on what I'm doing with the vehicle. Daily music I tend to stay within 30-35 range)

5) How much power will each sub be seeing

6) PATIENCE! These things take time. Blow up my inbox with "where is it" questions and I'll stop, erase it and move on to the next. Reply with an "Answer". Not an email.

Again, please keep it for those that are SERIOUS. Don't ask for a box design for a DD Z or that god awful 23" pile of junk from MTX. If you're buying this kind of equipment, you should know what you're doing.

I don't claim to be some 'magician' when it comes to box building, but it's not my first rodeo. Bring it on. :)

Update:

doct101: That sub isn't going to want a huge box. Here's 2.6 cuft @ 33Hz with 38.75" of port

Update 2:

hfd: I have no clue as to what the Fs of your car is.. And you're not going to want a square port coming out of the center. The port would be too long and need to bend. Another problem would be the subs motor clearance. The bottom of the sub would hit the top of the port. You could use either a slot like the guys above or a slot on the bottom of the box going horizontal with 1 common wall.
