Can a landlord legally ask for pets vet records, or it a scam?

I was on craigslist and a property that was for rent, but the landlord wants to see vet records of dog or cats before renting the property. I have never herd of this. Is it legal?

Update:

I have cats only, and they are up to date on shots. They are indoor only. There was a case of rabies near said house in October. The dog died in quarantine and was bitten by a raccoon.

Update 2:

I live in the US. I don't know why my questions come up as me being from Singapore.

Yes many even want a copy fo the Rabies vaccination and your dog registration. That is need for insurance purposes to limit liability.
