Why is some lumber stained pink in new home construction?
In the building of a new home, we notice some use a lot of the lumber to frame the home that is stained pink. Other homes by the same builder in the same neighborhood have no pink wood at all. What is the REAL answer- keep getting conflicting answers.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the pink tinge you see is a fire retardant they spray at thew mill

Ask the builder!!!!! Are you sure it is stained and not just a natural color for the type of wood? It may be that some framing is Cedar (Redwood is in the Cedar family). Some framing might be either green or kiln-dried Douglas Fir, which is more common. Green DFir might be pinkish.
