laptop no longer go to sleep when lid is closed?

so the past few day my computer stays on when the lid is closed and dosent go into sleep mode not shure why its a sony viao vpceb390x not shure what wrong i have checked the power and display setings in the control panel it also seems like its working alot more than it should be when nothing is going on i head the fan going stong like it would when playing a game its also not a virus or malewere and i am out of warrenty so can call sony please help

    Well i dont have access to a computer right now but go to your battery icon >power settings>advanced power settings> then look around in there.

    I know for sure that is how its changed just dont know the correct worda atm
