Can this person be charged with possetion?

The defendant carries a bag for his friend in an airport. When he goes through security, drugs are found in his friend's bag. Should/can he be charged with possession of drugs? (crim law outline question we never got to that I am curious about)

Was it in his possession? Yes.

    Or maybe in his possetion.

Yes, definitely! Airports have very, very strict rules about this sort of thing. The defendant was in possession of the drugs and tried to get through security with them.

You never, ever, ever, ever take a bag for someone else. What if there was explosives in the bag? or a gun?

Yes, they will be charged with possession of the drugs.

Absolutely he can, and will be. "I was carrying it for a friend" is both the oldest, and lamest, excuse in the world.
