Help with mildew smell?

We had a bad leak in the wall between the kitchen and bathroom. It was dumping water from the kitchen sink for a long time and we never knew. I removed the section of wall and repaired the leak but the odor coming out of the wall is bad. I put a fan at the hole for 3 days and sprayed some chlorine in the opening but it’s still bad. Is there anything I can put in the wall before I close it up to help the odor because I can smell it in the kitchen and I can’t get behind the cabinets? I heard that charcoal would help.

I would purchase a dehumidifier to draw moisture out of the room. Once the excess moisture is gone, your room will smell better.

I had that kind of problem before. I used baking soda with water to wash that section. Try it.

you need something hygroscopic to absorb the moisture. go to home depo or lowes and find one of the workers there and tell them what about the problem, they will show you what you need.
