What is the best dry dog food?

Blue Seal (Pork and Barley) is mostly grain and has very little actual meat. And the meat it does have is a meal (pork meal) which isn't even as good as plain old meat (pork). I wouldn't feed it, because it's heavy on grains. Dog food should be primarily meat. Grains are cheap and don't digest well with most dogs.

Could be worse, of course, but can be a lot better. I suggest something that's a bit heavier on the meat (unless there is a medical reason to have so little meat.) I'm sure if you check out your local pet stores, feed stores, etc you can look around and find something good quality and budget friendly (if that is a concern).

It depends on the dog. I give my dogs nutro its really good for them and it not that expensive. Its around $40 for a 30lb. bag. But my sisters dog is a Rottweiler and see he's supposed to be a little bulky but he's just lanky and skinny no matter how much we fed him. We even gave him homemade treats meant to help him gain weight. Finally my sister switched him to plain adult pedigree and he filled out a lot more. Point of the story; it depends on the dog and their metabolism and how active they are.
