Did you celebrate the true meaning of Thanksgiving yesterday?

"Your history textbooks probably wrongly told you that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Protestant pilgrims of Massachusetts in 1621. Not so. There was the Catholic Thanksgiving of 1565 in Florida and another Catholic Thanksgiving of 1589 in Texas.

The first American Thanksgiving was actually celebrated on September 8 (feast of the birth of the Blessed Virgin) in 1565 in St. Augustine, Florida. The Native Americans and Spanish settlers held a feast and the Holy Mass was offered. It was a Mass of Thanksgiving."

Eucharist means Thanksgiving in Greek.

    Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation

    October 3, 1789

Following a resolution of Congress, President George Washington proclaimed Thursday the 26th of November 1789 a day of “public thanksgiving and prayer” devoted to “the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be.” Reflecting American religious practice, Presidents and Congresses from the beginning of the republic have from time to time designated days of fasting and thanksgiving (the Thanksgiving holiday we continue to celebrate in November was established by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and made into law by Congress in 1941).

In setting aside a day for Thanksgiving, Washington established a non-sectarian tone for these devotions and stressed political, moral, and intellectual blessings that make self-government possible, in addition to personal and national repentance. Although the First Amendment prevents Congress from establishing a religion or prohibiting its free exercise, Presidents, as well as Congress, have always recognized the American regard for sacred practices and beliefs. Thus, throughout American history, Presidents have offered non-sectarian prayers for the victory of the military and in the wake of catastrophes. Transcending passionate quarrels over the proper role of religion in politics, the Thanksgiving Proclamation reminds us how natural their relationship has been. While church and state are separate, religion and politics, in their American refinement, prop each other up

Typical that catholics still try to claim only they can be Chrsitian and fight the REAL Chrsitians!

Christian churches existed at the time of Christ!

MATTHEW 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

The English word "church" is derived from the Greek word kyriakon, which means something belonging to the Lord.

"`Church' in the New Testament, however, renders Greek ekklesia, which mostly designates a local congregation of Christians and never a building.

Long after the crucifixion the ROMANs hijacked Chrsitianity and renamed it the Holy ROMAN Catholic Church. Not in the Holy lands but entirely in ITALY!

Then they hijacked pagan methods of worship against what the bible teaches!

Thou shall have no other gods! Exodus 20:2-3, Exodus 23:13, Exodus 23:24, Exodus 23:32, Exodus 34:14.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)

So it matters not whether Mary and the Saints are worshipped as gods, idols, intermediaries or anything else it still goes against God's direct orders!

Catholics keep trying to claim only they can be Christian and that is why Christianity has been split into over 39,500 different denominations, sects and cults setting Christian against Christian and Christians against everyone else!

    God's work? Hardly!

It must be the Devil and the Antichrist working together to divide, conquer and destroy Christianity from the inside!

If you are so unchristian and unamerican you have such a problem living in a democracy with all it-s hard won freedoms why have you not emigrated to North Korea?!

Sounds like you've just chosen to redefine the word thanksgiving to mean "any religious ceremony."

It also sounds as if you've never read an actual history book, as they spend very little time on mythical origins of holidays. Did you go to hme school?
