how far can a telescope that I buy go? like if I want to look at mt's far away from sea?

    With a charge coupled display you can turn up the contrast and see mountains about 10% farther (on the average) than you can see them naked eye.

    Whatever you can see, line of sight. A telescope just enlarges what is there (makes it bigger)

    If the mountains are out there but small, what you can see depends on air pollution.
