romantic places to go in northern california?

    I'm found of the coast.

    There are at least two lighthouses you can rent overnight

    I think they are:

    Point Arena Lighthouse

    Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

    You can't get more romantic than that.

    We also stayed in Mendocino and Point Reyes Station.

    Angel Island in San Francisco Bay.

    Except for the ferry landing area, and the site of the former immigrant center and prison camp (the West Coast version of Ellis Island), it's undeveloped. You can cuddle on an UNTOUCHED beach and look across the Bay at the San Francisco skyline.
