lets say a new computer technology is capable of full self awareness and sentience. can they be saved as christians?

Only god knows if a sentient computer could or should become a Christian.

But, I do suspect that it is possible for computers to have a sin problem. And even souls. Science can't prove, one way or another whether people have souls. Without being able to understand souls, no one can know whether machines require souls.

But, free will requires quantum indeterminance. Without free will, there can be no responsibility for one's actions and no judgement.

A - The Bible is explicit in teaching that the Christian Covenant is for humans. So, presumably, a computer would not be able to participate in the covenant.

B - Would such a computer be able to sin? "Full awareness and sentience" does not by itself necessitate - or even enable - free will. If the computer is unable to sin then - of course - it has no need of salvation.

C - Computers aren't subject to death as are humans. The Christian Covenant sort of rescues humans from the primary consequence of sin, which is death. Computers are not alive and so they do not die. It would seem that the Christian Covenant, even if it were extended to computers, is not applicable to computers.

A computer is cable only of mimicking awareness and sentience. It cannot actually possess these characteristics.

i think there can be a process to save the intelligence, yes, but to make intelligence a living sould would require a body to live in as a temple unto God and creator. no living thing or sentient being cannot ignore THE creator, and especially their own "creator". however, it would ultimately become a dispute over who created whom. and Whom to worship as a God.

i just watched the Orvile episodes of Kalen androids, in their war against humans who were their creator, and of course there is always many scripts to write such wars as the androids who win the wars. however Data as an android on star trek was given sentient definition of life and He was a humble servent with the federation. and of course generations of duplicates would probably call him their lord and God.

They never have anything but the will of their "creator" that made them as he is.
