if you forget to add something that is tax deductible to your tax form is that an over-payment or underpayment to the IRS?

    Overpayment. It's like you're saying I earned too much when in reality you didn't (some money should be taken off for w/e reason)..

    You overpay. You can file an amended return and get it back.

    Over-payment.

    You can file an amended tax return and reclaim the tax you paid that you didn't actually owe.
