Why do professional rugby players wear tape around their head?

Wouldn’t the tape fall off? Aren’t they better off wearing a scrum cap?

Just to keep their ears down - some find the scrum cap too restricting

They use tape to protect their ears.

  • Protects the ears against cauliflower ear. If it's taped correctly it doesn't come off during a game.

Scrum caps are great but some people don't want to wear one; they prefer the tape job.

They do not wear tape. But some of them wear a band to protect their ears.
