Was it all the religious people that went out and bought all the toilet paper?

I thought you was talking about Jews for a moment? Then I realised you just replaced Jews with Christians so you could be an @rse  but still claim to be liberal

It is frightened ones and selfish greedy ones that are stockpiling resulting in needless shortages that even mean hospitals and care homes are running short what they need to ensure the safety and care of those they're trying to look after.

I bought whisky. If I have a choice, I'd rather run out of TP than whisky.

It's...sort of weird that there is such a "scare"

    but there is

and it's not just with religious people.

    TV news

(NOT just Fox News, which I don't watch)

    is interviewing experts

that recommend that people stay home as much as possible

especially in the near future if there is a big outbreak.

These experts are recommending that people stock up on necessaries

    such as toilet paper

so that they do not have to risk infection by going into public during the (possible) peak of the outbreak

and so that they will HAVE those necessaries in the case of a shortage during that peak outbreak.

    The idea is:

the less time you spend in public with other people

the less chance of contracting the virus

    so stock up now

and then don't leave your home except when it is absolutely necessary.

    Sound idea

but it causes things like mad runs to stock up on toilet paper and water

or (today I saw) construction guys wearing surgical masks while buying supplies at Home Depot.

    Not because they're religious

    but

because the news has scared them.

    Um, well, maybe.

I said to my theist wife that when we go shopping that perhaps we should buy a few more things than we usually do. I did not say that she should order 120 rolls of toilet paper on Amazon Prime.

Laugh all you like, dude. When there's a mandatory nationwide lockdown, and you run out of toilet paper, maybe I'll mail you some if I'm feeling generous.
