New Zealand is generally easier to relocate to, but it all depends on the migration pathway and other factors. In terms of lifestyle, New Zealand can be more relaxed, and Australia more sophisticated, but Australia has better weather for beaches and New Zealand has better skiing.

If you have residency in one country, you can move the the other easily.

The process of getting a visa that will allow you to actually live there and work is long and complicated for either country. There are lots of criteria that you must meet.

You cannot just go and start to live their.

Do a search for "immigrating to .... " each country and read the details on a REAL government website.

Neither is easy to relocate to from the USA unless you meet their work visa requirements; which you can research.

(At the moment; neither would employ someone from the US given the risk of COVID, especially NZ)

They are both expensive. Either one you'll find friendly and welcoming people.
