Did the French rule all of Hispaniola before the Haitian revolution?
I thought that French colonists shared the island with Spanish colonists before the revolution and once they freed slaves in their country they freed slaves controlled by Spanish colonists. What was the territory like before the revolution?

No, they had only conquered the part called Hati, and taken it from Spain
