Do you risk going to Hell only for rejecting Jesus Christ or do you also risk going to Hell for doing something evil and not feeling sorry?
If someone is a killer and says "oh yeah I believe in Jesus lol" and doesn't feel bad for the murders, will they still make it to Heaven?
I used to be told that if you committed an evil deed, you'd have to ask God for forgiveness and truly feel sorry. But now I hear that you can go to Heaven simply by believing in Jesus.

You can be judged to hell IE The Lake of Fire for rejecting Jesus or for not repenting of your sins. You must believe in Jesus to be saved and you must repent of your sins through Jesus to be forgiven of your sins.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

You make your own heaven or hell right here on earth. There are a number of reasons you might carry the latter into the afterlife.
The doctrine that says that once you are "saved" you can't go to hell was created by mid-19th century churches as a selling point.
In Catholicism it is a mortal sin to miss mass. They also do "last rites" to assure that any sins you may have committed since your last confession will be forgiven and you will go straight to heaven. But even the Pope recently said that he does not believe there is a hell.
Jews don't fear the devil or hell like many Christians because they believe that after a period of atonement, all Jews go to heaven unless of course they are uncircumcised, because Gen 17:14 says "Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”

Believing in Jesus means believing that He died in agony because of YOUR sins, so that you could be spared hell. Once that dawns on a person, they don't just feel sorry for bad for even evil deeds - they are gutted to the core of their being as to what it takes to deal with sin. They feel such a weight of horror at what it took God to do, through Christ, to open up the way away from hell, they cry out to God for mercy. Then, when God answers such a sincere prayer, the weight is lifted up and away and they know the joy of sins forgiven.
Not that many people have grasped what true repentance is, and how it's only by putting total faith in what Jesus did that spares them the punishment they are due for their sins. But when that happens, your life is transformed. Ah, but to actually reject Jesus is to continue walking on the road to perdition. We are all on that road already, but those who turn in faith to Christ find themselves on the narrow road that leads to life. So, going to hell is not merely "a risk". It's an actuality for everyone until they embrace Christ by faith.
Clearly, you have never understood what it means "to believe in Jesus". It's not just a verbal assent, or rattling off some ritual prayer. You have to be utterly broken at the foot of the cross. Only the Holy Spirit convicting you of your sin can get you to that point. Dare you pray to God, in Jesus' name, for that to happen?

Feeling sorry is not a part of getting into heaven and avoiding hell. To get into heaven and avoid hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. That simple. Here is the truth: The Lord Jesus Christ is God. Nobody can be good enough to avoid hell. The truth is that death leads to immediate heaven or hell, depending only on whether the person believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, or not. The truth is that the Lord Jesus Christ loves you and wants to bless your life freely :) Most of all, Jesus wants you with Him forever, and not in hell. It is too late to be saved, after death.
.
Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ means being forgiven all sins past and future and means going to heaven. The truth is that every belief except one will lead to eternal torment in the lake of fire for every person. Because nothing pays for our sins except the death and blood of Jesus, the sacrifice of Jesus that is already accomplished by Him . Jesus loves you! The truth is that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, and Jesus died on the cross to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus was buried, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead. Nothing else pays for our sins, not works, not deeds, not religions. So the only way to heaven and to avoid hell, is by believing on Jesus for eternal life (John 6:47), without adding any of your own works (Romans 4:5). Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to take you to heaven, and you will be in heaven, no matter what, guaranteed. That easy, thanks to Jesus! Tell Jesus that you thank Him that you will be with Him in heaven

It's one or the other. And I learned it was Christ who made a way to have peace with God. The people who are preaching perfection never are perfect. So where are they going without a Gospel?

Feeling sorry is not enough.
Most criminals who get caught - do feel sorry.
We have to repent of our sins and try to make reparations with God's help in the name of His son Jesus Christ. Again you should talk with a priest/pastor about this, for more clarity.

Lk 13:3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
Heb 10:26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
