Is Michigan Northeast or Midwest?

I think Michigan is Northeast - it has that same dog-eat-dog nature. It doesn't have that Bible Beltish Heartland feel that Ohio or Indiana or Illinois has. Detroit is way more a vicious dog-eat-dog city than Chicago.

In terms of the downright evil competitive nature, Detroit is more like New York or Boston than Cleveland or Chicago or Milwalkee

We are the beachfront property of the Midwest.

I consider Michigan as the Midwest since the Northeast are the northern states that are part of New England region of the United States of America.

Michigan is Midwest, indeed Upper Midwest. Not sure how you compare Detroit to Boston or NYC for that matter. Detroit clearly has its problems, but it also has the ability to overcome them, if they choose. Actually, it may be more like Chicago. One urbanist called Chicago, one-third San Francisco, two-thirds Detroit.

So just to clarify - you "think" Michigan ought to be classified as a Northeastern state because in your mind, it has a feel to it that more closely resembles the "dog eat-dog" nature of the Northeast, is that right? You have obviously never been to Maine. It's not a very dog-eat-dog place at all. In fact, it's one of the most beautiful, safest, cleanest, and most livable places in the United States. In fact, while there are indeed some very fast-paced, rough, gritty, and downright dangerous places in the Northeast, statistically speaking it's actually a much safer and more livable region that either the Midwest or the South.

Of the top ten most dangerous cities in America, seven are in the Midwest or the South. Depending on the source, Detroit, Michigan could rank first, second, or third, but it's always top three. Most of the sizable cities in Michigan are awful, but the rest of the state is mostly forest and farms. Culturally, it's a Midwestern state, geographically, it's a Midwestern state, by anybody's measure, it's a Midwestern state. The fact that you disagree means nothing because your opinions on most things are truly laughable.

"Detroit is more like Boston." Hahahaha. Good one, fella. Yeah, I can really see the similarities there.

Detroit is nothing like Chicago, right? Yeah, I don't see any similarities between the South Side and Detroit. Nope. None. Not in terms of crime, poverty, or demographics.

Oh, man, good one. Detroit and Boston being similar. Because everybody knows Boston is an overwhelmingly black city and super poor too.

Thanks for the laugh. Your questions just keep getting better and better.
