One day while sitting on the bench during lunch break. Someone came up to me and asked me if they could sit next me. I told them no and kept eating my lunch. The person got a little upset and went to sit somewhere else. I don't care I hate people any way.

The only thing that happened here is they didn't get their way, people always look for someone to blame for that. At the worst you were unaccommodating, don't worry about it.

Yes, you could have been tactful and said you'd prefer to sit alone. You were blunt in your reply. Doesn't take much thought to be diplomatic.
