I really think Biden is going to be great as a president but I dont agree with his plans to legalize?

He's not for letting more immigrants IN (especially while there's a pandemic), but wants streamline the citizenship process for those already living here. If they're already working & contributing to the economy, why not have the contribute to the tax roles, too?

What do you do with them then?

Find them and deport them?     How has that been going for the last 20+ years? 

Giving illegal workers some sort of legal status - it does not have to be citizenship, it could be a work visa -  is just recognizing the facts that are in front of us:

These people are here.

Trying to find and deport them has failed miserably.

The vast majority are (other than immigration) law abiding people who just want to work.

For all the claim of "taking American jobs"  whenever illegals have been removed, there have not been Americans trying to get the job vacancies.   These people are working in positions that the vast majority of Americans refuse to do.

There is a huge black market and organized crime around getting people into the US that does result in criminal activity, violence, sex trafficking, etc.     If immigration was made easier, and existing illegals legalized, then this would be a big blow against organized crime.

With law enforcement no longer having to chase people who are are not criminal in nature, they can concentrate on the crimes that actually have a victim.  Such as sex-trafficking, drugs, exploitation, etc.

Do I like giving effective amnesty to millions of people who have broken the law?  No I do not.

But we are where we are.  The question is what is the best way to move forward.  Even if that way is more of a "least worst" than a "best".

I like his plan of giving these people a path to citizenship. I want to know what his plan is for people who don't follow that path. It's not unreasonable to deport the people that are unwilling to take part in the process.

He's not the first president to offer a path to citizenship to illegals. Reagan offered a general amnesty in 1986, which was a lot faster.  He was a conservative Republican. 

And this will require people to jump through some hoops. It will take time, and they'll have to meet various requirements over time. Some won't manage it.

We have always welcomed immigrants here. We've NEEDED them to build the country.  There were no special requirements or documents needed when my ancestors wanted to come here in the 17th and 18th centuries, and I assure you that some of them did not speak English -- but they learned.  Of course I'd prefer it if people came in a legal manner, but I think that people who've been living and working here for years, and paying taxes, should be offered a chance to become citizens.

I agree with plans to legalize illegal immigrants.  Making people who have been living in the US for years return to their country's of origin and wait 7 to 10 years to come back through legal means is a waste of everyone's time.
