My period is currently 9 days late ?

If you're sure you are not pregnant: menstrual irregularities are fairly common, but if you period doesn't show up for another couple of weeks, see your doctor. You should probably have some tests done.
You don't say how old you are. Could you be approaching menopause? Or perimenopausal? I started to have the occasional glitch in my cycle in my late 30s, even though I didn't actually reach menopause until my mid-50s. I didn't actually miss periods, though, until about 18 months before my last one. They just weren't always showing up on a clockwork schedule.
