Your house is on fire. You only have one chance to save your pet dog, or a stranger. Who would you choose and why?

    The humane answer would be the stranger since they’re human, but let’s be honest in the event of an actual emergency if God forbid we ever have to be in a situation that OP described, I would likely go for my dog. Pets are family too you now?
