Will I get fined If I attempt to travel down to Exeter from North London ?

Surely they can't be serious with the frigging fines,  I have a close friend I need to meet down in Exeter.

Is the lockdown still in place ? can I drive down to Exeter from North London ?

What don't you understand about 'only essential travel'.    The lockdown is still in place and so people are being asked to only do that - close to home too.

We have people who arrived down here, we think, from London to the N.Cornwall coast at a time when London was in Level 4 and we, Level 2.   They are still here but I suppose to their credit, they aren't out all over the place here.

I hope you get friggin' fined if you try this.    And I hope you didn't plan on joining all the other idiots sitting in the sun on the Exeter Quayside yesterday - with not a mask in sight.    It's shocking, truly shocking.

Isn't this a want, not a need?   Even so, you, and how many others, have to put this off until the situation is better.

What is the nature of this "need"? Are you providing medical or personal care or do you just feel that this is someone you'd like to spend time with? It doesn't sound like essential travel.

Travelling is still restricted and your 'want' will not be accepted as essential.......

You are breaching the terms of the current lockdown so you could be fined. The government has chosen to play this down, but more people are being fined than is being reported in the media. 70,000 have been fined since January. It is up to you, but you won't find much sympathy if you get caught since most people regard such behaviour as selfish if not irresponsible.

Yes the police are checking number plates. Loads been fined and sent back in Devon and Cornwall.

Yes, lockdown is in place, and you aren't allowed to leave your area unless for work or other approved situations.

Visiting a friend is not one of these.

So no - you can't travel to see them.

You should not travel out of your local area, if the police in Devon see a London reg car they will stop it.

    You might well get fined.

You don't "need" to meet a friend.  You WANT to meet a friend.
