Is it weird for boys to play with Ken dolls? When I was a kid I thought the Ken dolls were for boys?

Not really. When I was a child the G.I. Joe dolls just came out and they were really popular with the boys. My husband blew his up with a firecracker and said he was sorry he did it now.

I used to babysit my cousins (girls) Barbie had like all this crap to dress them up with.

GI Joe in the 80's were action figures, not what they came back out with in the late 90's.

GI Joe in the 90's were close to what they had in the 70's.

My Mother has a ton of Barbie dolls.

    Her Ken dolls look Metrosexual.

    Can't  adjust their arms.

Ken was NEVER meant for boys.

Ken is like what $5 at Walmart.

S.H.Figuarts, Tamashii Nation, Good Smile are Boy's Toys.

Ken by Mattel is Weak, unless dressed up in Military and ready for WAR.

It used to be weird, but that was around 40 years ago.  Ken was originally marketed to the guys, because guys often had sisters and / or female friends, and girls traditionally played with dolls.  Ken was a way for the guys to get in on the game.  Of course nature quickly took its course, and Ken became Barbie's unofficial boyfriend.  Mattel never marketed it that way, it just happened on its own.

When I was a kid, boys were supposed to play with trucks and Lego and girls were supposed to play with dolls and tea sets.  Also when I was a kid, computers were the size of 18-wheelers and phones didn't work at all unless they were plugged in.

When I picked up my one son at preschool (over 10 years ago now) he and his buddies were playing dolls.  They had just fed and changed the baby, and were loading it into a stroller for a walk to the park.  My son interrupted one of them, saying "You're doing it wrong, this is how my dad always does it with my brother" and showed them how to support a baby's head while holding it.  When I mentioned this to the preschool teacher, she said "Right, and I suppose you work 12 to 14 hour days in the field, while your wife stays home cooking and raising the kids?", and she had a good point.  That thing she said was how real life had worked for centuries, but several revolutions (ie: industrial, electronic, digital, etc) had changed all that.

I don't think it is weird for kids to play with things that usually the opposite sex or gender plays with. Sometimes boys play with dolls and sometimes girls play in the mud and with cars and trucks. It does NOT mean they are a transgender or gay.

Little girls can play with the toy cars and toy lorris as well as with nerfguns.

So, little boys can definitely play with dolls.

Yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

They can play with Ken, of course, but also with Barbies.

And if they like baby dolls, they can play with them as well.
