Overall I don't. I only like certain songs by certain people. Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, and The Mavericks are good.

I like much of the country music of the past, but not many current performers.
Country music has always been closest to the natural, organic artistry of music. Singers have to actually sing. Most write their own songs. And usually, they can play an instrument.
Players are expected to be masters of their instruments. And instruments are (typically) left without a ton of electronic wizardry to mask their tones.
Songs are simple, but simple often has a big impact. And storytelling has always been a part of the genre. An artist writes a story and puts it to music...plays the guitar and sings the melody, tells the story millions can relate to, and never once mentions his own name in the song, about how great he is, what sort of jewelry he prefers, and how many girls he casually hooks up with each night.
I love music in general. I appreciate talent. And until very recently, it took quite a bit of talent to be successful in country music.

My father used to get drunk at home, listening to it. Then he would go to bars, get in fights and often come home with new dents in the car.
I do not like any country music for this reason
