Can Christians go to a Halloween party?

I’ve always wanted to go to a Halloween party, have fun and dress up, but I’m a Christian and it would feel like I’m going against God. Even thought I’m not actually ‘celebrating’ Halloween, would this still be bad?

Why? What do you think Hallmark is celebrating?  This is not a devil worshiping holiday.

Do ten minutes of research of how it began and what it developed into for the modern day.

My southern Baptist church has trunk and treat in the church parking lot. Adult decorate their open car trunks and have candy and treats to pass out.   Kids can dress up. (although all gory costumes are not allowed) they have games for the kids. Like a little fun fair.

Halloween is actually a mockery of an original Christian holiday called 'All Saints Day' when children would dress up like the saints and martyrs and parents and friends would give them candy for doing little plays or skits about their lives. Some of the costumes were a little gory because of the way the martyrs died and the pagans thought this was funny. They used to get drunk the night before, (Halloween) and dress up like demons, witches or other scary things and wander around drunk during the day scaring kids or interrupting the plays and skits.

So you could restart the actual holiday and hold parties to remember the saints and martyrs instead. We could use the reminders of good people's lives and faith and the sacrifices they made for Christ. Plus, it was originally a whole day of wholesome parties and fun and dress up.

There are many Church Halloween parties that give out candy and gifts and instead of dressing like monsters and witches and demons they dress like Bible characters and they March through town singing Christian songs with a band playing. I've been on quite a few of these it's a lot more fun than playing Halloween
