What makes a reptile a reptile?

Reptiles are cold-blooded vertebrates that breathe with lungs and have dry ski covered with horny plates or scales.  Reptiles include alligators and crocodiles, snakes, tortoises, turtles, and lizards. 

They are cold blooded vertebrates with scaly and/or bony plated skin. They have at least one lung and fertilize eggs internally.

A reptile is a vertebrate that has dry scaly skin and breathes through lungs.
