Please call your doctor for an appointment, so he or she can take a look at your throat (and/or take a temp).  If the doctor believes that you may have strep throat, for instance, which is a bacterial infection, then he or she may prescribe an antibiotic medication (to preferably be taken for its entire dosage).  Please, however, make an appointment with a medical doctor to find out if the pain in your throat is possibly from a bacterial infection that is supposed to require antibiotic medication.

Just an fyi that strep (streptococcus) is supposed to be similar to the staph (staphylococcus) infection, which the latter can be especially serious.  Not to cause a panic, but the person who gets a staph infection may end up with sepsis, which may be referred to as "blood poisoning."  Therefore, please talk with a medical doctor asap to find out about the pain in your throat.  A local "urgent care center" may be an option, especially on a Sunday.  However, "urgent care centers" usually have more limited business hours than an emergency room (ER).
