Drivers: suppose you’re turning left and you have an unprotected green, can there be two cars in the intersection?

Let’s say I am turning left but I have a car in front of me and unfortunately we are going to get the unprotected green, which is when you have to guilt to oncoming traffic and then make the turn when it’s safe to do so. However I have acknowledged that a lot of drivers, roll up to get in the intersection and when the light becomes red, about two or three people make the left turn. It’s because they do not wanna wait LOL.

You are supposed to not enter the intersection until you can complete the turn.  Quite often though the first car can get through and you can follow along while the light is still green or even amber.  A lot of impatient drivers know that there are a couple of seconds between the red light coming on and the green light coming on for the other drivers.  This means that it will be red in all directions and if they are already in the intersection and the other drivers are a little slow, it often, usually works.

The proper way is to wait at the stop line until the car ahead of you completes the turn.

Technically, no. By law, only one car should be in the intersection. If you’re waiting behind a car who is yielding to traffic and waiting to make the left turn, you technically cannot get close behind so you can go in front of the traffic lights, we you’re supposed to do is still wait before the light and if it turns red then you’ll have to wait for it to turn green unless the driver in front of you makes the turn which then you can now get in the intersection.
