I'm struggling to open up certain tools on my penknife, how do I stop this?

is it as simple as oil?

i don't want it to make it go rusty

    Yes, it probably is as simple as oil. I recommend Tri-Flow oil. Lubricates very well, and is not going to make anything go rusty. It will, in fact, help to rinse away any rust that might be already there.

    I would say yes...You don't need much and you need to work it back and forth.
