Dry food is only for nibbling on as a snack, you should be feeding your cat WET food!

Cats, like humans, need a balanced diet, so "moist" (i.e. canned) is needed as much as dry. Among dry avoid Meow Mix, which is the lowest quality junk, infused with color dyes cat don't need.
My cats get a mix of dry foods: Greenies for treats, plus Authority, Hills Science Diet, Nutro, and Royal Canin. I figure if one lacks something the others will make up for it.

I wouldn't recommend kibble at all. It can lead to health problems like kidney disease, diabetes and crystals. Any canned food is better than kibble but grain free and low/no by-products is ideal. Whole Earth Farms, Weruva, Lotus, WholeHearted, Natural balance, Natures variety, Halo and Merrick are some good ones.
Dracaena are considered toxic to cats. Not sure if the species PR mentioned is different or if they misidentified the plant but I am throwing this out there so people don't poison their cats. Spider plants, palms (NOT sago palms which are toxic) and bromeliads are a few kinds of plants that are cat safe.

Moist, never dry. Their systems aren't designed for dry food (think about a nice juicy morsel of mouse, still warm and damp). Dry food can play havoc with a cat's digestive system. You might try a few bits of dry food in with the rest to give them something to crunch on. The last time we tried that with ours, though, they carefully ate all the moist food and left the dry bits sitting there in their dishes.

I have 8 cats and have tried every cat food known to find one they all will eat. Cats a finicky.
Long story short, I found that all of my cats will eat Purina Naturals.
That said, when a cat is hungry enough it will practically eat anything.
I also split a can of cat food among them, once a day. Fishy smelling pate. They think it's a treat. I always mix it with water and they lap it up. Cat are notorious for not drinking enough water, one reason cats are prone to kidney issues.
Since doing that, I haven't had any problem with them, ages 1 to 12. All very healthy. One maybe a little overweight, but hard to say because he's so healthy, active and muscular.

I would never recommend feeding any cat dry kibble only as it causes too many health issues....... feed wet food

Fromm brand is very good. My 2 cats have been on the Fromm Tuna-chovy dry chow for years. They love it, and their coats have become glossy and beautiful on it. I highly recommend it!
PR below is recommending a plant called dracaena for cats to eat.
THIS PLANT IS TOXIC TO CATS!!!!!
I don't know what sort of agenda PR has but please look up dracaena yourself, and avoid this plant!!

We have had cats for decades and have simply used food like 9-Lives. We had trouble with Purina, causing digestive issues. We recently began feeding Nutro because our rescue kittens looked so good on that food. The fur was shiny and silky despite a rough start for these kittens. We decided if it was good enough for the rescues, maybe we ought to feed to our own cats.
Truthfully, though, the best feeding is the actual regime which will help avoid furballs: 1 cup dry/1 cup or a little more of water/2 tablespoons canned. Feed the appropriate amount two times per day. Only one feeding per day for animals puts stress on the liver. Do not overfeed, which is an issue with many pet owners. Also, if the cat seems too skinny, take to the vet for worming or other check-up. Any time a cat acts "not himself", or seems lethargic or sleepy, is time to check with the vet. These are a cat's signals they may be sick and a check-up sooner rather than later, is in order.
Additionally, we use a plant called Dracaena (dark green, not pink) for them to chew on. They love this and it helps their digestion, thus helping avoid further furballs. If they chew the plant down and I ignore it, they begin to barf, again!
Get kitty spayed or neutered, if not already done in order to avoid: wandering; excess meowing; kittens, reproductive cancers. The longer you wait, the more chances of kitty suffering problems later in life.
