    y & c are complementary

    =>

    5x+2*+x+10*=90*

    =>

    6x=90*-12*

    =>

    x=13*

    =>

    y=5(13*)+2*=67*

    c=13*+10*=23*

    Complementary means that the angles add up to 90 degrees.

    6x + 12 = 90

    x = 13

    c is (x + 10) = 23°

    y is (5x + 2) = 67°

    complimentry=90

    5x+2+x+10=90

    6x=78, x=13

    y=67 c=23

     Angles y and c are complementary angles.

     The measure of y is (5x + 2), and

     the measure of c is (x + 10).

     6x + 12 = 90°, x = 13

     The value of y = 67° and

     the value of c = 23°

    Remember the definition of complementary (and supplementary) angles.

    Complementary angles (think 'C' = corner = 90°) add up to 90°

    Supplementary angles (think 'S' = straight = 180°) add up to 180°

    So first add up the angles and solve for x:

    5x+2 + x+10 = 90

    6x + 12 = 90

    6x = 90 - 12

    6x = 78

    x = 78/6

    x = 13

    Now figure out the two angles:

    ∠y = 5x + 2 --> 5(13) + 2 = 67°

    ∠c = x + 10 --> 13 + 10 = 23°

    Double-check that those two angles do indeed add up to 90°.
