Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?

Does this sentence make sense:

"The last time the mole left its burrow for its usual forage for his sustenance, it was chased by our dog who narrowly got it."

    It can be understood, if that is your question, but it is poor sentence structure and poor use of English.

    'missed it' perhaps instead of 'got it'.....Unless of course your dog really DID get it !
