Why is it legal to euthanize a dog, but not legal to euthanize a human being (in mos places)?

Why is it considered okay to put a dog out of its misery, but not okay to allow assisted suicide for a human being who does not want to live and is able to make it known that it is their own will to not continue living? Why is that not okay? Why is it not okay for dogs to suffer, but okay for humans to be forced to suffer?

Certain places allow assisted suicide.  I personally think that if I did not want to live I would kill myself and stop posting this question, but perhaps that's just me.  No one is forcing you to suffer.  You have options.
